"Bag it and we'll collect it"
Plastics, cardboard and paper
Segregate plastic types:
Minimise contamination by mud, slurry, silage etc
Bag it - tightly bundle the sheet/filmplastics by type in old fertilizer bag outers or potato seed/builders bags etc
Pesticide/Chemical drums must have the caps removed and separated
They mast be triple rinsed, emptied, and drained.
If leaving your farm and going to a hub they must go in to large clear polybags (these can be purchased from Sastak), otherwise they can be gbagges the same way as other plastics.
They can be bagged whole or crushed to save space
Cardboard and Paper to be falttened and tied in to "bales"
Waste Trasfer Note given on the day of collection
Plastic Hub Days
To help smaller and more remote producers, under a special initiative, we held 4 Farm Plastic Collection Hubs across Shropshire.
This scheme attracted nearly 200 farmers and growers. 70 tons was collected
The hubs were sited to minimise distance travelled within Shropshire. All farmers and growers were invited to register - regardless of size or scale of enterprise.
