Accommodation & Ablutions
Your accommodation will be either a Bunkhouse, Caravan/Mobile Home, which will be situated near the work place. All beds, pillows,
blankets and space for you to store your clothes will be provided but as stated above you will
need to bring with you a sleeping bag, towels and clothes (waterproofs). There
will be a safe place to store money and valuables, which will normally be situated
in the office. Toilets and Showers will be situated in or near the accommodation
with hot and cold running water.
Rent
Rents will be charged and will vary from placement to placement and will cover all lighting, heating
and water costs. A maximum of £31.57(£4.51 per day) is allowed. This will be deducted from your
wages on a weekly basis. If the farm is unable to offer at least 15 hours of work in a week,
rent will be free of charge. Employers may also charge a Bond of £50 - £100 to cover breakage,
damage etc, returnable when you leave your accommodation as found.
Cooking
A kitchen will be available where a cooker, fridge, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils will be
provided. (please be aware some farms may not supply the above so you will have to bring this
with you) You will be taken at least once a week to go and buy groceries.
Cleaning
You must ensure that the accommodation is kept to the same standard as when you arrive. It is a
good idea to draw up a rota with your work colleagues upon arrival.
Clothes washing facilities
You will have access to a washing machine or laundry and drying facilities. Please be aware that
some maybe free but others maybe coin operated.
Recreation
You will need to unwind after a hard days work, chairs and tables will be provided, your
placement may also provide board games, bicycles, table tennis, T.V. or radio. You may wish to
go shopping or sight seeing and will require transport to and from bus and train stations as most
of the placements are away from towns a list of bus & train time tables will be available from your
employer or internet.
